The Friends of the Rydings is a registered charity that works with Calderdale MBC to preserve and improve the buildings that make up the Rydings Park complex in Brighouse. We have a current membership of around 65 but are always looking for new people to help with events and to become active members of the association.
To Join us is really easy. Just look out for the leaflet at Brighouse Library and contact the secretary. Our membership fee is really modest at £10.00 for a family member, £6.00 for individual membership and £50 for a corporate member.
We are currently working towards two projects. The first is the replacement of the wrought iron gates on Halifax Road with something that is in keeping with the current heritage but clearly shows what the building is about. We believe that we can secure grant aid for this project and have already contacted National Heritage Lottery funding.
The second is to install a mechanical screen inside the gallery to be used for presentations. We are seeking approval for both of these projects and hope to update members and the public in the forthcoming months.
We are always happy to hear from companies or individuals who may be able to help.
