Howard spoke to us about his year as Mayor – 2016 – 2017.

He gave a fascinating account of life as mayor.  He and Mayoress Kath attended over 350 events that year, representing the people of Calderdale.  He and his team raised over £40 thousand pounds for his charities that year.  It was an amazing achievement.

The audience learned interesting facts about the mayoral chain – its weight in gold, its history and Howard’s tricks for managing to balance the chain during events without mishap!  Calderdale’s mayoress wears a chain with over 200 diamonds that was presented by Queen Victoria.
