Pat Lee, a volunteer with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service for 17 years, gave us a very interesting presentation on the work of the service.
Pat gave us a fascinating talk at our May event. She described how the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service came into being in 2000.
The service currently answers 4-5 emergency calls every day. Its two helicopters are situated to enable them to reach 90% of Yorkshire’s population within 20 minutes. The costs of running the service are met almost completely through the generosity of Yorkshire people and businesses – it costs £19,000 per day to operate.
Pat is a great representative for the service. She and the other 100 volunteers help to raise awareness as well as funds. We are very grateful for their work and we were fascinated by Pat’s presentation.
Thank you Pat for raising awareness and helping us to understand how this vital service operates.
