Philip Wilkinson.

29th March 2025

Friends of the Rydings were pleased to welcome Philip Wilkinson as their speaker for their March event.

Philip told us amusing stories about his life and work as a solicitor in Brighouse and surrounding area.

The audience was enlightened as to the more interesting life of the town in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Philip started working in 1972 when petrol was 30p a gallon and you could buy a 10-year-old Morris Minor for £120.  Brighouse had its own magistrates’ court and the town’s solicitors got to know their clients well.

Philip told us some interesting stories about these days and revealed how much life has changed since.

Thank you Philip for your interesting talk.
