Friends of the Rydings were pleased to welcome Roger Davies as their speaker for their April event.
Roger’s talk was held in the gallery where his successful exhibition, Welcome to Calderdale, is on display until June.
Roger showed us how his art has developed over time from the realism of his A-level still-life pencil drawings, through rough graphite sketches as he developed his own signature style. He illustrated his talk with examples of his work.
Roger paid tribute to artists who have inspired his approach; among them L.S. Lowry and Peter Brooke.
This was a fascinating talk. There were many positive comments from the audience showing how much they had enjoyed it.
Many thanks Roger.
