Statue renovation.

The statue has a  long history of being displayed at Smith Art Gallery and was in need of some attention.  Following a request from Calderdale’s Museums department, Friends of the Rydings provided funds for its cleaning and restoration.

The statue is signed Ao. Boofsella Roma 1869.

Unfortunately Calderdale has no records for the provenance of the statue but its beauty and craftsmanship can once again be fully appreciated.
