Christine Leveridge treated us to a fascinating talk on King George V and Queen Mary’s visit to the West Ryding in July 1912.
Christine’s interest in postcards has led her to research the history and the stories that they tell. She links the stories together into interesting, illustrated presentations. Using her collection of postcards of the 1912 Royal Visit, she wove the story of the King and Queen’s itinerary over four days in July.
She included some comical tales, including the Queen’s invitation to tea and Yorkshire fat cake, and the King’s unscheduled duty in Lindley!
Thank you Christine – your talk was enjoyed by all.
